To get started on this project, you’ll need a few materials!

• Two sheets of red paper ( construction paper)
• Glue stick / tape
• a sharpie/ black marker
• A tiny square of yellow pap

The first step in creating your own Cardinal friend is cutting one of the red papers!You want to cut it right down the middle, so that it is perfect! Remember to keep both halves!

Next, tape one half into the shape of a circle! It should kind of be like an oversized bracelet.

Then, fold it into a raindrop looking shape. An easy way to do this is to lay it on its back and push down on the edges!

Fold the other half of the paper and draw a shape looking like a shoe!

Then, cut out the shape that you drew! Make sure to be precise with your lines, and have adult supervision!

Cut little lines in the point of the shape, and try to make them at least 2 inches deep!

Reapeat the previous 3 steps! This you should have four show shapes now!

Get the yellow piece of paper and cut a square! Each side should be one centimeter long! Then, fold the square in half to create a triangle!

Gather ALL of your supplies for this craft! Place the raindrop on top of the circle!

Cut little fringes on top of the raindrop at least a centimeter long! They should NOT look like tassels. They should be together like in the photo!

Then, place the triangle in the center of the top part!

Draw some unique eyes above the beak!( AKA the triangle)

Tape/ glue the two feet shape together to make wings!

Tape the wings onto the back of the cardinal!

The final step is to place the wings onto each side of the bird!

Now your birds can fly free! Enjoy your new pet, and come up with a nice name for it! Make sure to cherish it forever!
